MA - HPPE - Coaching Emphasis
Beginning in the summer of 2007, the Coaching emphasis will be offered in a cohort model through an online format.
Students will take courses online, complete their field study and practicum hours in their own community, and conclude with the one-week capstone course on the Adams State College campus.
Working coaches will study with a highly accomplished academic faculty, learning to implement best practices. The coaching emphasis includes courses in methods, sport law, and strength and conditioning.
Coach Damon Martin will be among our instructors. Martin has coached 17 national championship cross country teams, and he just received his 20th national coach of the year honor from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Over the course of his career, Martin has coached 578 student athletes to All-American honors.
The HPPE MA with an emphasis in Coaching is a cash-funded, online program. This means two things for students:
- Students will pay a little more in tuition for the convenience of pursuing the degree online. Tuition for the online Coaching emphasis is $300.00 per credit hour; there are no fees for this online program.
- Some of the processes for registration will be different from our on-campus students. Coaching students must complete the application form online and pay the $30.00 application fee at that time. Students must also pay for courses at the time of registration, unless they have been approved for financial aid.
