ASC Choirs and ASC Honor Choirs to perform at Richardson Auditorium and Sacred Heart Church (02-04-08)

The Adams State College choral program and Adams State Honor Choirs will give three performances at Richardson Auditorium and at Sacred Heart Church in Alamosa in conjunction with the Adams State Honor Choir Festival. The first performance will start at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14; in Richardson, the second at 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, and the third at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, both at Sacred Heart.

Thursday's performance will showcase the talents of 68 West, Adams State's vocal jazz ensemble, along with the 68 West Combo and the ASC Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Douglas Camp, assistant professor of music. Admission to this concert is free to the public.

Friday's performance will feature the Adams State Chamber and Concert Choirs. They will be performing a wide variety of music in celebration of the many aspects of life. Featured pieces include the ethereal and beautiful "Ave Maria" by Austrian composer Franz Biebl, and a Mass setting by Dietrich Buxtehude. The concert will culminate with the Concert Choir singing a combined work with the Adams State Honor Choirs.

Saturday's performance showcases the Adams State Honor Choirs, composed of talented high school students from throughout Colorado. The mixed choir and the women's choir will be performing an eclectic program ranging from traditional classical favorites to world music and gospel. We are honored this year to have Brad Peterson as our clinician, who is the conductor of the well-known Pike's Peak Singers in Colorado Springs. There is no admission charge for Friday's and Saturday's concerts: donations are encouraged.
