No More Starving Artists workshop is February 23 and 24 (02-11-08)
Adams State College's Community Partnerships will host Allan McConnell, fine art photographer and Pueblo West business consultant, to present: No More Starving Artists: the business side of a professional art career, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23 and Feb. 24, in the School of Business room 142.
Join Allan, the business manager for the international award- winning Colorado oil and pastel artist Fran Dodd, for a 16-hour whirlwind experience. Allan has over twenty-five years of business experience.
Participants will learn how to jump start their career, copyright and contract details, recordkeeping tips for artists, taxes, and most especially marketing to include pricing, products, sales, working with galleries, developing support materials, and much, much more. Participants also develop their own plan for success as an artist. This is primarily for visual artists but others could gain as well.
Extensive handouts are included in a notebook for each participant including checklists and references. Participants are permitted to tape record the workshop.
