Adams State College presents awards to the Colorado Department of Education Teacher of the Year and Demont Award recipients.

The 2005 Teacher of the Year is Adele Bravo, Louisville Elementary School. Adams State College awards the Teacher of the Year adjunct faculty status, a tuition waiver for a three credit course, and provides a $1,000 Adams State College scholarship to a student of the recipient's choice.

Adams State College gives a tuition waiver for one credit hour to the Teacher of the Year finalists, Terri Peterson, Van Buren Elementary, Loveland and Yvonne Wilkinson, Escalante Middle School, Durango.

Adams State Chair of Teacher Education, Dr. Barbara Medina, attended the 2006 Colorado Teacher of the Year dinner and presented Bravo, Peterson, and Wilkinson with the Adams State College awards.

The Demont Award is sponsored by the DLR Group and presented at the Colorado Association of School Boards Conference in December. It honors exemplary rural and small school administrators in Colorado's public schools.

Tim Gribben, Superintendent of Idalia, is the 2005 recipient of the Demont Award. Adams State College presented Gribben with a $500 Adams State College scholarship for a high school senior in his school district.
