Adams State Nursing Department is accredited (11-15-06)
The Adams State College Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program was recently accredited through the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
CCNE visited the campus in late April and ASC received official notice of full accreditation on Oct. 28. Interim Nursing Program Director Amanda Jojola said the accreditation ensures that students are receiving a high quality professional nursing education based on national nursing standards.
Adams State's RN-BSN completion degree program was begun in 2004 in collaboration with the SLV Nurses' Forum, Trinidad State Junior College, and other local health care agencies. The primary objective is to increase the number of BSN nurses in rural Colorado and, thereby, improve the quality of health care. Adams State will graduate its first BSN students in the fall 2006 commencement ceremony, Dec. 16.
