Adobe de Oro Concilio de Artes and Adams State College present Una Tarde Con El Mariachi, the 8th Annual Alamosa Mariachi Concert starting at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16 at Adams Stated College Richardson Hall Auditorium. The concert will feature Mariachi Tenampa, one of the United States Southwest renowned mariachi groups and New Mexico's premier mariachi. The cost of the concert is $10.00 per person.
Mariachi Tenampa comes to Alamosa from Albuquerque, New Mexico. This eight member mariachi group performs the entire range of mariachi repertoire including: rancheras, valses, polkas, corridos, boleros, jarabes, pasodobles, sones jaliscienses, sones huastecos and sones michoacanos.
Mariachi Tenampa will also instruct a day-long mariachi music conference preceding the concert at the Adams Stated College Student Center. The conference begins at 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with mariachi instrument sectional workshops. Participants are required to know how to play their respective instruments: guitar, vihuela, guitarron, violin or trumpet to notation. The cost of the conference is $40.00 for students and $50.00 for non-students.
The evening concert, (which is the grand finale of the day's conference) for the general public, will also feature Mariachi San Luis, Mariachi Corazon del Valle (the ASC mariachi) and mariachi groups from Northern New Mexico.
This year's concert master of ceremonies will be Mr. Norberto Martinez (Norby) from KXMT Radio 99.1 from Taos, NM.
