Higher Ed head holds Town Hall meeting at ASC Thursday (09-25-07)
Community members are invited to attend a Town Hall meeting with David Skaggs, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education (DHE), Thursday, October 4, from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Adams State College Student Union Building, Room A130 (First and Stadium.) The event is free, and refreshments will be provided.
Skaggs will answer questions and discuss funding and policy making for public higher education in Colorado. During the afternoon, Skaggs will attend a college class and meet with Adams State students, faculty, and staff.
The Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) will hold its monthly meeting earlier in the day, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, also in the Student Union Building Room A130. This meeting is open to the public. The agenda includes approval of New and Continuing State Funded Capital Projects and Priority List FY08-09 and of the Five-Year Capital Improvements Program FY08-09 to FY12-13. Commissioners will join the Adams State College Board of Trustees for a breakfast meeting. The trustees will hold their monthly meeting Thursday, as well, from 2-4 p.m. in SUB A130.
Commission members include Chair Raymond T. Baker, Jill L. Brake, Patricia Pacey, Michael Plachy, James T. Polsfut, Richard L. Ramirez, Edward A. Robinson, Joel S. Rosenstein, Greg C. Stevinson, and James M. Stewart. Colorado State Senator Gail Schwartz is a legislative representative on the Department of Higher Education's advisory committee.
The CCHE and Department of Higher Education coordinate policy and state resources for the state's 27 public institutions of higher education. They work to improve the quality of, ensure the affordability of, and promote access to, post-secondary education for the people of Colorado.
